Goreme Balloons was founded in 1997 to operate hot air balloon flights in the region of Cappadocia. Since 2001 Goreme Balloons has run its balloon operations with the cooperation of the Turkish Aeronautical Association. In the same year it obtained a commercial passenger carriage license from the Ministry of Transportation with the number of 2001HT-7.
Goreme Balloons owns 8 large commercial balloons with capacity from 10 to 22 passengers in addition to one smaller craft for 3 persons.
Goreme Balloons stores all it’s equipment and balloons at our own balloon port which includes open and closed storage areas for balloons, a maintenance unit, and a 10 ton propane tank with quick refueling system. Our port is unique in Turkey and Europe and approved by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authorities.
Goreme Balloons employs highly experienced pilots from around the world. Our pilots are well respected in the hot air ballooning industry and bring this expertise to our company. We currently have seven pilots from Turkey, England, USA, Australia, Belgium and Portugal flying with Goreme Balloons.
Between them, these pilots have many years experience and have flown in areas such as USA, England, France, Germany,Italy,Ireland Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Australia,Kenya, Botswana, Hong Kong.
Goreme Balloons is also member of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA),the only balloon company in the world with such distinction.Pilots of Goreme Balloons are member of BBAF(British Balloon and Airship Federation) and BFA(Balloon Federation of America)
Goreme Balloons flew 16.000 passengers in 2006 which made us the largest balloon operator in Turkey&Europe which places us amongst the highly regarded companies worldwide.
